Munches

What Is a Munch?

A munch is a lunch. The traditional word for a lunchtime (or now even evening) gathering of BDSM enthusiasts.   The word is believed to have originated from a contraction of "Master's Lunch". Others say it's from "Masochist's Lunch".   Probably no one will ever know for sure.  But, all across the country, Masters, Mistresses, Doms, Dommes, and their assorted subs, slaves, and toys go to munches every month (in some cases every week) to connect, to meet, to stay in touch.  The entire purpose of the munch is to keep that sense of community going, to meet and greet your fellow deviates, and remember you are not alone.

Does ISAB Sponsor Any Munches?

ISAB does not sponsor any munch in particular. It serves as a facilitator to local social get-togethers. For example, there is a weekly meeting called GLD in Iowa City, and a bi-weekly munch for DMAD in Des Moines that gets announced on the ISAB calendar. Details for these meetings are also posted on the ListServe.
