Adam’s Boston Lager and Shiner Bock

Sam Adams Boston Lager

(Beer Advocate review)

overall: 3.4

Not bad.
I don’t get the caramel flavor that some people have said, but I definitely detect a heady fruity scent and taste, like peach or apricot.
Definitely a grassy aroma, not unpleasant. Very faint.
The color is a nice dark amber. Not opaque, and not quite like a cola.
Soft but thin head with a nice lacing that stayed around a while.
Good when very cold even though that hides most of the flavor, and good when just a touch colder than room temp. Kind of odd in beteen, though. Kind of a sickly-sweet flavor when coolish. But the sweetness calms down when it’s nearly room temp. Weird.
While I like VERY dark and strong beers more, I would certainly take this over Sam Adam’s Black Lager any day!

There’s really nothing much I can say about this. Nothing noteable about it.
Nothing really bad, nothing really good or interesting.
The amber color is OK, not much of a scent, and a bitter-sweet flavor that is basically a strong Coors. A really strong Coors.
