Recent CNN article about the guy who killed an entire family to get the two kids he’d stalked for a few days, killing the boy eventually, before finally getting caught with the girl.

So this guy was already a prior multiple account child predator. Released from prison.
I’m very libertarian. I believe basically “if it harm none, do what thou wilt” (despite the use of the quote, by the way, I despise Wicca–just wanted to make that clear,) I think minor drugs should be legalized even though I’ve never used drugs, I think individual privacy and liberty should be THE MOST IMPORTANT right the government should protect. I think penalties for minor crimes are often rediculously harsh, and the tax code should be abolished and reworked so it is easier and doesn’t unfairly penalize the poor and favor the rich.
But when it comes to crime and punishment on those who are predators, I’m unapologetically fascist. A child molester on their first offense should be, if not outright killed, imprisoned for life and forced to farm their own food and cut their own firewood for warmth because society should not pay for their being kept alive.
One of the VERY few things government should do is protect society ONLY as much as society can’t do on its own, and punish those society needs punished in an orderly way lest we have vigilanites and chaos. And serial rapists and child predators can not be “cured.” They can not be rehabilitated. Violence against women and sexual desire for children are a part of who they are, and since that part of who they are is harmful to other people, they must be removed quickly and permanently from society. If one day science develops a medical means of permanently removing that part of a person from their mind, fine. But until then, and until we can have isolated prison systems on other uninhabited planets , I’m all for state killing of people who are from birth and until death predators on other innocent people.
But maybe that’s just me. But I’m sick of constantly reading about another kidnapping, another murder, another crime against children by someone who was out of prison from previous child sex offender charges.
