Update: The Alabama Homeland Security Web page linked below has gone missing since I posted about it. Weird. I recall seeing that site about a year ago, back when I was doing research on anarchism. Now, coincidently, immediately after Classically Liberal blogs about it, it’s pulled down. One might immediately suspect something fishy, and that’s how conspiracy theories start. It could easily be a coincidence. Or, dig a little deeper, and you find that the way Classically Liberal discovered the page is because he got several people alerting him to it. So, you can imagine what kind of traffic that site must have been getting if several people messaged one other person about it. That site must have been linked and posted and blogged and viewed but a “surge” or people! That much traffic surely made the site’s host suspicious. It’s possible then that either a) being a state government server, they couldn’t handle the bandwidth and took that high-traffic section down, perhaps temporarily, or b) they recognized the controversial nature of the site and have taken it down for honest review. So, the missing site so soon after blogging may be suh-SPIIII-cious, but Occam’s Razor suggests nothing of the sort.
Classically Liberal has a new post with an image of the original page so you can see what was being discussed.

Classically Liberal has a new post:
Are you a terrorists? Most likely.
in which he discusses the way the government is slipping the term “terrorist” into such a broad definition that anyone who criticizes the government can be classified as a “terrorist.”
I recently blooged in “Life in wartime, tread carefully.” where a Web cartoonist was questioned for making “terroristic actions” by posting a Web comic satirizing his forced dismissal from his job for discussing target shooting.
Classically Liberal links to a couple of state government sites which use Homeland Security information to define “terrorist.”

Some of the things which evidently describe what a terrorist is, are:
In general, these terrorists claim that the U.S. government is infringing on their individual rights, and/or that the government’s policies are criminal and immoral. Such groups may hold that the current government is violating the basic principles laid out by the U.S. Constitution….
Anarchists believe that any government or organization that has power over others, no matter how good, will eventually become corrupt and abusive. … The theme is always the same. Big is bad. Rich are using the poor to stay rich. Our government in particular is using its power immorally.
Gun Control is a conspiracy to enslave us starting with the removal of our ability to either defend ourselves or forcefully change our government.
Domestic Terrorists
Single Issue Groups
Law enforcement often feels the greatest terrorist threat is from “single issue†or “special interest†groups. The members of these groups are dedicated to fixing a perceived wrong. They often have both mainstream support and a radical fringe….
Single Issue movements include:• Environmentalists
• Animal Rights
• Pro-Life
• Anti-Nuclear/Anti-War
• Gay Rights
• Anti-Geneticists (opposed to genetically altered crops)
Well, I know I fall under much of those criteria; how about you?
And with the repeal of habeas corpus, the government has the ability to arrest you or me, without charge, and hold us without any rights, in secret, and without legal counsel–indefinitely.
Kinda makes you want to complain about the corruption of power and the immoral abuse on rights the government is perpetrating, don’ it!
