Why do Christians believe?

Quite some time ago I wrote an entry: Faith or Delusion, discussing some of the reasons I see why people believe in religion–specifically Christianity.
John W. Loftus over at Debunking Christianity has a new post:
<>  Why do Christians believe?
He deals in this post primarily with the upbringing/programming aspect I write about in my post. But it’s a little redundant–he repeats a lot of the same statements and points rather often. And I keep waiting for him to mention the passing of the religious belief from person to person over the centuries as Richard Dawkins’ coined term: meme, but doesn’t.
Yet one of the things that’s really great about Loftus’ post is his included links to other pages that do advance the argument. I highly recommend checking those out.
